Sometimes the sheer love, whether it is for helping stray pups or aiding area artists, overrides a need for dough. Al Final de la Rambla, a non-profit group began as Francesc Páez, Andrés Gutiérrez Mas and Ramiro Tomé with backgrounds in philosophy, lit and film sought to strengthen cultural activities in the city. Their production co. La Máquina de Rodar offers companies and individuals colorful and comprehensive AV services. Their pseudo-trailer Personer Med Paraply even ranked second this year at the international fake trailer festival, Teaserland. They also created Quiero Ser Guionista to hook screenwriters up with industry professionals, Somos Lo Que Leemos for literary folk and run El Muñeco Whisky, an amusing daily political and cultural blog that has an odd obsession with Ben Affleck.
