Marita Patricia Mauricio Salas–Pita, as her young niece calls her – started her Barcelona cake decorating business Dulce Decoracion a year ago. From Peru, she’s been in BCN for three years perfecting her skills and broadening her cake mold repertoire. What sets her designs apart from others are the unique, made-to-order scenarios she has brought to confectionary life, like a bride and ‘short’ groom topper and the well-received divorce scene top.

Working out of her home, these two popular designs were created for friends. While doing research for the separation scene, Marita encountered a lot of violent material regarding the delicate subject of divorce. She decided to play around with what she saw and came up with a wife holding a knife. “Presenting divorce, celebrating it in this manner is a way to break the ice and start a new stage of life with joy,”she explains. It’s a new year and whether it’s spring nuptials to a tall or short man or woman or a separation bash for the summer you’re planning, contact Marita for a thorough consultation and get 2010 off to a sweet start.
