Slowly releasing tracks from their upcoming CD over the past few months, Canadian indie rock band, Arcade Fire, faces high expectations from critics and the public alike after the successes of previous CDs: Funeral (2004) and Neon Bible (2007). Taking on the challenge to meet up to those standards, the band has been working hard for two years to bring us their new CD. Created between Montreal and New York, The Suburbs will be released throughout Europe on August 2nd. Produced by the band with co-production by Markus Dravs (who also worked on Neon Bible), the new album includes 16 songs, as opposed to the 10–11 songs on previous discs. The album will be released in digital, CD and 12” double vinyl formats.

Singles like “We Use to Wait,” “The Suburbs,” “Ready to Start” and “Month of May” show the band’s evolution from previous discs, but are a far cry from the tracks on the exceptional and more critically acclaimed Funeral. The band, led by married pair Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, graced Barcelona with their presence during Primavera Sound this year. Unfortunately, they won’t be returning upon release of their new CD, but fans can catch them at Palau Sant Jordi on November 21st.
