Keeping up with today’s “hot or not” is certainly much easier than during the supermodel era of the 80s and early 90s. The latest way to get your fix on trendy trends is reading through your favorite blog roll – more personal than purchasing a magazine on the corner stand – with a variety of blogs out there catering to everyone’s different interests and styles. Fashion bloggers have found a way to expose great trends while getting creative with today’s fashion, taking catwalk looks and making them their own by mixing hot brands with vintage eras.

Some of the most popular Barcelona-based fashion blogs are showing influence from a certain era: a strong 90s trend is shining throughout Barcelonaʼs fashion blogosphere. The most posted and blogged-about trends are straight out of the 90s: rolled-up trousers, velvet hair bows, lace bodysuits, leather vests, studded boots, American flag prints, loafers and even Swatches were all born in the 90s. Blogs like IT Hunter, LELOOK, Heelsandcigarettes, katelovesme and Miss at la Playa have referenced looks or pieces that come directly from the year nineteen ninety-something.

Not to exclude the catwalks, this trend has taken a firm seat during fashion weeks. Barcelonaʼs bloggers keep up-to-date with London, Paris and New York while helping readers express fashion in their own way. They reminisce on the time we fell in love with grunge and translate it into fashion. They teach us to pair up an oversized flannel shirt with cut-off shorts and lambskin open-toe short boot Chanels. It may be spring 2011, but the 90s continue to live on.
