Founded by Fernando Griffell, the La Casona theater school, where students are left with the lasting impression that acting can be a successful career, is celebrating an impressive third decade of teaching. Thirty years and still going strong, La Casona is a pioneer in offering the second Stanislavski method (physical actions method), where actors are taught to “be in the moment,” rather than approach a character on an emotional level.
Apart from the school’s regular yearly courses, the theater offers the latest techniques in different courses and monographic seminars as part of the Project'Arte series. Courses for 2010 include: The Executive Producer, Voice Technique and an Introduction to Singing. “Creativity, the capacity of scenic experience – an important Stanislavski concept – the range of interpretation, the sound range of voice and other aspects that make for excellence in acting, are muscles that not only have to develop but have to remain constantly active,” Griffell explains—and with over thirty years of experience, he knows what he is talking about.
