This late ‘50s and ‘60s hairdo has been seen on almost every female cast member of the popular American TV show, Madmen. Updated versions of the ‘do were also prominent on models at Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection runway shows in Paris. There, Prada’s models sported neatly formed beehives, while Rochas’s presented girlier styles, achieved by leaving the hair down and teasing the crowns into beehives. Ideal for any elegant occasion, there are many modern interpretations of this classic style. Hairstylist Luke Hersheson gives a video tutorial on ELLE UK’s website, demonstrating the Bardot (a beehive updo, like Prada’s) and the Half Bardot (similar to Rochas’s half-up, half-down beehive), for those eager to try the look at home. Stock up on products like bobby pins, hairspray and a comb from the beauty section of El Corte Inglés and let the backcombing begin.
