I am fascinated with Etsy. If you haven’t heard of it already, it’s an online community where hundreds of artisans sell their wares. There are so many different pretty things, you can spend hours just browsing.

In the beauty section, there are liquid and solid perfumes that are nothing like the big brand ones. The beautifully packaged Illuminated Perfume uses pure botanical extracts, perfect for avoiding allergies. For Strange Woman makes solid perfume with oil as well as scented bath salts in an old school Victorian, pharmacy style packaging.

There are also online shops which sell their own lines of mineral make-up, such as Ophelia’s Apothecary. This kind of make-up is ideal for anyone who suffers from acne or sensitive skin. You can buy bases, powders, eye shadows and lip color, body and face creams, as well as scented candles, pillow spray – lavender is great for helping you relax and get to sleep – and plenty more treats besides. They are one of my favorite Etsy sellers.

There are two homemade soap shops that I am loving at the moment. Sunbasilgarden make soaps in fun novelty shapes like cupcakes, Easter rabbits and slices of toast. They also make exfoliating soaps with sea salt in a range of different aromas. Satin & Birch make luxury, romantic style soaps: delicate flowers, butterflies, babies, hearts… a perfect gift for Mother’s Day, or for scenting your clothes drawers. Almost too beautiful to use!

Etsy works in a way similar to Ebay: you buy the product and then pay the shipping fees, all using Paypal. The seller sends and once you have received your item you leave feedback. Etsy is a cheap way to explore a whole world of arts and crafts; you’ll come across some real gems.
