Buying eye shadow sets with three to four different shades seems like a good idea in theory. Once home and at the mercy of an unsteady hand, it is quite another story.

What the outer packaging claims will give you model-ready curves of shadow that will make those baby blues or browns perfectly pop, ends up mixing together and looking sloppy and monochromatic. In addition to that there is the unsightly eye shadow residue that accumulates below the eyelashes. If only there was a way to truly get in all the shades that didn’t require access to a makeup artist’s steady hands or tools.

From the beauty goddesses at Sephora, the new Express Color line of eye shadow patches provides all the shades and contouring advantages in a simple sticker. Carefully remove the protective outer plastic, place over the eyelid – thankfully they indicate right or left – gently press for 4 seconds and peel off. To make sure the shadows look effortlessly brushed on, use a makeup brush to blend the colors. Voilà, instant camera-ready eye shadow in just under a minute.

It also easily squeezes into the beach bag, to be pulled out later and applied before heading off to the clubs. Now, if only they would invent a concealer patch for under eye bags to press on in the morning after a night out on the town.
