Want to watch great international films online or on your iPod without having to deal with pop-ups, broken torrents, slow streams or the dreaded rainbow wheel? Spanish initiative Filmin allows users to download the crème de la crème of international cinema at DVD-quality, without breaking the bank and at the same time supporting filmmakers.

Founded by seven film companies in 2006, the project aims to bring top quality independent and international films to a larger audience. It also offers a collection of almost 300 films ready for quick, legal access online. The site’s extensive catalogue includes features and shorts from across the globe, including international blockbusters such as the French, multi-award winner I’ve Loved You So Long, Romanian, Palme d’Or recipient 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days and the Palestinian Oscar-nominee Paradise Now. Movies cost from €1.95 to €2.95. Unlimited downloads are available for premium users, both in Spain and overseas, for €10 or €15 a month—an incredibly low price given the high quality.
