So you thought that placemats were the mainstay of grandmas and twee vegan restaurants. JDWilks Fineware beg to differ. Jonathon Wilks is a Brit living on a little boat in Barcelona harbor. He explains that he was sick of finding only tableware with “pictures of cocker spaniels with wet brown eyes or winter landscapes.” He found his niche in the market and it was time to take action.

JDWilks Fineware have released a series of placemats with distinctive modern designs. Jonathon takes his inspiration from anything and everything: “the amazing floor tiles in a lot of my friends houses here in Barcelona, 1950's bottles I picked up at a flea market, my dad's old cooking set.” He hopes that the mats will become a feature of a room, “kept out on the table, adding to the room, bringing color and functionality.”
