Why we like it: Billed as part rock concert, Broadway musical and crazy house party, the song-celebrating fiesta created by American comic Rachel Arieff just turned four years old. Members of the audience join Arieff on stage to sing something from the catalog of over 500 songs that cover rock, punk, soul, metal and more. Don’t be surprised it you spot a celebrity in the crowd.

Why we like it: Well known for their dinner and colorful show spectaculars, that’s only the beginning. Zebra print chairs and neon blue lights set the scene for groups of partygoers to sing Madonna, Cher and
other dance classics. Ruby, a 22-year-old in Barcelona says, “It’s a great place to celebrate birthdays or enjoy a girls night out.” The singing spot is also both gay and straight friendly.
What: Klavier
Where: C/ Aragó, 221
When: Mon-Sat 9pm-3.30am
Why we like it: A more sophisticated approach to karaoke, the bar does not welcome groups of drunken youngsters. Created for true music appreciators, the refined atmosphere is complete with artistic black and white photos on the walls— kind of feels like a classy jazz venue. A piano player accompanies daring
singers as they show off their talent.
What: Selmo’s
Where: C/ Aribau, 153
When: Tue-Sun 8pm-3am
Why we like it: Recommended by longtime Barcelona resident Gerry Gonzales, the basement level space has a 1920’s feel. Two bars allow for plenty of drinking, with an area in the back adorned with red sofas for groups ready to sing their hearts out. The thick karaoke catalogues include songs in English, Spanish and Catalan.
