The warm weather means time in the parks, beaches, plazas and rooftops of Barcelona. The city fills with sounds of spring including the laughter and play of children. Migropólis, a student-animated documentary, takes us into these magical worlds of children from other countries living in Barcelona. The documentary has received a lot of attention and was recently accepted for the En.Piezas 2011 short film competition organized by La Casa Encendida in Madrid.
According to Colombian director Karolina Villarraga, “The objective is to give a voice to children from different places, to give them an outlet through which they could tell their story and imagine their own world built from their imagination, their perception of time, their past and present.” Against a playful, animated Candy Land-like backdrop, these young citizens of the world bring issues of identity, diversity and acceptance to the forefront while also sharing their absolute loveliness. So gather the little ones you know and watch this eight-minute wonderland before going out to play.
