The current online surge of photos of trendy celebrity kids has sparked kiddie couture mayhem. Madonna’s daughter, Mercy James, was recently photographed wearing a stunning, military-style jacket designed by Stella McCartney for GapKids—a look that’s more Kate Moss than Shirley Temple. The miniqueen of the craze though is Suri Cruise (Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s four-year-old daughter). This fashionable tot has a wardrobe reportedly worth $3 million and what’s more, according to dad, she’s her own stylist.

“Celebritots,” however, are no longer the only ones expressing their inner fashion divas. Websites like MiniHipster offer up a slew of photos of über-chic children on the streets of cities like New York, Melbourne and Barcelona. And brands are jumping at the chance to outfit tykes. Italian label Missoni has launched a fall 2011 children’s line for girls aged 2–10. If you’re looking for clothing and accessories for “cool babies” in Barcelona, Rock 01 Cool Baby carries harem pants, motorcycle print tees, sunglasses and fedoras. Before you know it, the little ones will be sitting front row at fashion weeks the world over.
