Punks used to be rebels without a cause, the “Down with the man” outcasts wearing Ramones T-shirts and Doc Marten boots. A few years ago it would be hard to imagine that fashion-forward females around the globe would be emulating this style, right down to the Mohawks and hardcore tattoos. Agyness Deyn is a perfect example of new age punk. With her shredded jeans, patchwork denim vests and Balenciaga bags, she has found a way to make punk look put together. Then there is Alice Dellal, ending up on the Best Dressed lists with a half shaven head and wearing a dog collar as an accessory for her Gucci dress. The new punk is all about mix-and-match, kind of an “I hate everything, but I love my Christian Louboutin pumps” thing. So, grab a leather jacket and throw on a cute spring dress. Just remember the look is more Debbie Harry and less Courtney Love — don’t go there girlfriend.
