C/ Aragó, 141 (Eixample)
Open: Wed 11pm–4am, Thur 11pm–5am, Fri–Sat 11pm–6am, Sun 7pm–1am
Why we like it: Salsa sizzles at Barcelona’s biggest salsa club, with live performances from top merengue, mambo, salsa and rumba acts and the club’s conversion to “Salsoteca” every Friday and Saturday. Apart from the good music, there’s plenty of good dancing to watch as the place is frequented by true salseros. Don’t be intimidated; instead, take up one of the club’s dance classes a brush up on all the steps.
C/ Roselló, 217 (Eixample)
Open: Every day from 11pm– 5am.
Why we like it: Open 365 days a year, this modern, high-energy club attracts a crowd of partygoers and salsa lovers. No matter what their ability, the venue’s clubgoers aren’t afraid to shake their stuff on the dance floor to the tune of salsa, merengue and reggaeton. Don’t forget to sample their famous mojitos before you leave.
C/ Groc, 2 (Barri Gòtic)
Open: Sun–Thur 9pm–2:30am, Fri–Sat 9pm–3am.
Why we like it: It’s a full house every Tuesday and Wednesday night, when this tiny bar offers free salsa lessons from 11pm to midnight. A mixed crowd of locals, tourists and Latinos are regulars and are there to enjoy one of the mojitos (a house specialty using an original Cuban recipe) and to take a spin on the dance floor.
