1. Lighten your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and unhealthy fats (saturated and hydrogenated). I know this may be difficult, but it’s the most important step.
2. Just add water. Start your day off with warm water and lemon first thing in the morning. It’s great for your lovely liver! Lemon stimulates the liver making it great for detoxification. It’s yummy, refreshing and incredibly alkalizing. Also, drink two liters of water daily. Water flushes out toxins, gives you healthy skin and keeps you regular.
3. Eat your greens. Leafy greens are some of the best sources of Vitamins A, C and calcium. The easiest way to incorporate them into your diet is a big salad. When you make your salad, choose veggies that are vibrant in color such as spinach, arugula, watercress, tomatoes, red peppers and carrots, with all contain high amounts of antioxidants.
4. Take a technology break. Make one day a tech-free day. I know this may induce a panic attack for many, but all the more reason to do it. Turn off your computer, cell phone, iPad and TV. I promise nothing bad will happen. Facebook will still be there tomorrow.
5. Get moving outside. Take advantage of the great weather and exercise outside. Go for a walk on Barceloneta beach, take your yoga mat outside, jog in Ciutadella Park or book a session with a personal trainer in the park.
