Cool ties that are made out of audio tapes and fabric, producing actual sound.

Imagine a world where the city can be taken with you wherever you go. Each of the harmonious layers of the sounds from city streets could travel to the countryside, when long weekends are just a little too quite. Alyce Santoro, inventor of Sonic Fabric, collaborated with designer Julio Cesar not only to make this possible, but to do so in the most fashionable and eco-friendly way possible.

Their Recycled Cassette Tape Neckties are 50% audio clips from Santoro’s CD Between Stations – produced on recycled tape – which combines sounds from the New York City streets and 50% brown, black or gray thread. The different colors allow for a variety of wardrobe options and you can choose between two-inch, skinny ties or a thicker size. It may already sound mind-blowingly cool, but the best part is yet to come. Just pass a homemade Walkman tape head – instructions are on their You Tube video – over the ties and the recorded sounds come to life. True city dwellers can play them to lull themselves to sleep when out of town or just show off their cool new accessory to friends.
