While the name gladiator sandal is misleading since the professional Roman warriors brawled barefooted, the intricately- interlaced footwear is set to be this season’s hottest trend. The fixation for the flat-soled, tan woven wonders began a year ago, but they’ve had a major facelift in time for this summer. For ’08, the sandals have their buckles extended all the way to the knee, and come in hot metallics and prints. Slip into these goddess sandals from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana for a stroll through the city, lounge on the beach, or even a night out in the clubs in true modern-day Venus style.
