This DIY (Do-It Yourself) project comes from Lindsay Landis and Taylor Hackbarth, the husband and wife team of Purr Design, a web and graphic design studio. The vases were added to give a punch of color and style to their all-in-one living space.  designspongeonline.com

The goods (to create each vase):

-1 empty wine bottle

-1 3/8” (.95cm) top-plate connector/ceiling flange

-1 split ring hanger

-2 screws to hold the top plate connector (drywall anchors may also be needed, if not mounting directly into studs or another material)

-1 piece of 3/8” (.95cm) threaded rod, cut into half

-1/2” (1.27cm) double-sided foam mounting tape, if the bottle’s neck is smaller than 1”

-Silk or real flowers

The steps:

1.With a hacksaw, cut the threaded rod down to size.

2. Position the top-plate connector on the wall, and mark the holes where the screws will go. Pre-drill the holes, insert any necessary drywall anchors, and then attach the plate to the wall.

3. Screw in the cut rod pieces, and then the split ring hanger.

4. If the wine bottle has a narrow neck and the split ring is loose around it, apply a layer or two (as needed) of foam mounting tape to the neck of the bottle where it will be held by the split ring.

5. Add flowers.
