Although in the "Which Barcelona Neighborhood Should You Live in?" test on Facebook I did get the Born, all the while, trying to answer the qs with Poble Sec, my current home in mind, there is a fab reason to stop by one of Barcelona's buzzingest nighttime barrios this week. Born in a Window is a window dressing initiative hoping to change the look of the neighborhood, through a revamping of the area's establishment's windows this week.

With about 40 places participating, from art galleries and fashion stores to restaurants and food shops, it is going a window-dresser's wet dream as top professionals in the sector are uniting to let the fabric, glitter, mannequins and creativity fly. It all kicks off, right now, 11.00 am in the Born and the lavishly decorated windows will be catching the eyes of passersby until July 23rd. Among the places dripping with feverish window-dressing sweat are Museo Barbier Mueller, Iguapop Gallery and La Botifarreria.

In charge of it all is the window-dressing co. Vitrina y Sparks, who recommend a route for the best viewing. Just start at the Passeig Picasso and make your way to Mercat de Santa Caterina, weaving your way through the Born streets and passageways.

So, squeeze your feet into those sneaks, gel insoles recommended, and check out the spruced up windows of some of the Born's most beloved establishments. Surely a pitstop for a cocktail will be needed, luckily, there are many places to choose from. My personal fave is Copetin on Pg de Born, for the free popcorn, super sweet and strong mojitos (€7), salsa sounds and little notes/envelopes to write secret messages to the lady/feller who catches your eye in the locale, luckily the staff is more than happy to deliver the message for you!
