Throughout history many have moaned and groaned about the absence of a guide out there to lead us through life's trials and tribulations. While doing some research a couple weeks back I stumbled upon a life guide of sorts and then put it into practice this weekend when my beach prepping went horribly awry.

Now that the sun is out and shining, and it seems like it will stay that way, I am prepping my body for its beach bikini debut. Since the body that will be filling out that bikini is not in as tip-top shape as I had hoped - operación bikini compromised by trips to Burger King, lack of motivation to get out of bed early and workout, and several injuries to my back doing unsupervised Pilates, which also took away the workout ganas- I thought I could cleverly shadow this by using a self-tanner.

Before using the sunless tanning cream I was told exfoliating was necessary. What I also had to tend to this weekend were my hairy, borderline Sasquatch (large hairy beast)-like legs. So, I thought - as anyone would - kill three birds with one stone. I would exfoliate, shave and sunless tan all in one go-WRONG!

My husband assessed the damage after, looking horrified and asking me if I had walked through some kind of prickly path the day before. Then I admitted what I had done, and he just hung his head.

I too was ashamed and, not knowing where to turn, went to WikiHow for answers. WikiHow, turns out, is a type of guide to life, written for the people, by the people. Self-tagged as 'The How-to Manual That You Can Edit', there are all sorts of great tips on How to Break Up, How to Break Up Concrete, How to Get a Fun Summer Job, How to Stop Being a Bore, How to Be a Locovore (BCN mentioned), How to Cope With Being Small and well, the list goes on.

There, on WikiHow I found out how to mend my horrible mistake, as there are a plethora of entries about sunless tanning. Have you WikiHow-ed?
