Every now and again, the Miniguide office gets a press release in our general email box that stands out from the others. This time, it is an invitation from the folks at Flan Sin Nata to attend an olive oil tasting happening Monday, June 28th. But, this isn't any old olive oil, it is the latest eco oil from Baix Ebre-based Dama de Elaia. So special is this "olive juice", that it has been called "liquid gold" by Martín Berasategui (a well-known Basque restaurateur).

Now, I've been to wine and food tastings, but never an olive oil sampling...so, two of us from the office will be attending the event at the swank Murmuri boutique hotel (more out of curiosity than anything else). According to the invitation, the tasting will be followed by a cocktail. I was thinking it might be nice to follow it with some bread to soak up some of the oil's heaviness, but, whatever, I can have a cocktail.

It does seem that with the approach of summer, there is an increase in off-beat activities around town. In addition to the olive oil tasting coming up on Monday, there is a giant water gun fight being put on by Barnamob on Saturday at 8pm, which will pit blonds against brunets. Also on Saturday night, from 10pm on at Mar Bella beach, there will be a full moon party.

I say, keep the quirky events coming. If there is fun to be had, and a little freebie bonus, I will be there!
