So, thank goodness the supermarkets around Barcelona also get into the festive spirit. Many chains, like Condis and Caparabo gift roses to shoppers on this day. If you are a single lady out there, you don't have to hang your head in shame or blush with rose-envy, you ARE loved, by the same people who offer toilet paper at the bargain price of 2 euros for 12 rolls! Just stock up on some household items/food/whatever, and voila, you get your love token.

Out on the street, books are also being given out for free. All you lady-less and book-less males, have no fear, the St Jordi helpers clad in white tees in the streets can help you out with the latter. Just shimmy up to one of them (there are clusters of helpers on Passeig de Gracia with Diagonal and also on Rambla Catalunya) and snag a free book.
