Yesterday I received an urgent email from two friends (originally from Ross, forwarded to Annemarie, myself and Jane) about a Madonna video shoot.....as we swaped emails aback and forth about the plethora of Madonna personas we could take on, I paused, is this for real? and Ross kindly sent the original announcement straight from Madonna's official website. I finally decided on the 'Like a Prayer' motif, although when I was younger, I was more a "Lucky Star/Like a Virgin" Madonnna impersonator, with a new darker do and a cheap-o black slip picked up from Lefties (it also came with a bonus white slip underneath, niiice!), I find the only missing links are 1. a necklace bearing a large cross (I checked the chinese shops, looking at the little girl jewelery they have and NOTHIN´) and 2. the footwear (I can't get a good enough look at the stills and the videos on youtube and on the Madonna persona page to see what in the heck she is wearing on her feet, I am contemplating throwing on some black combat boots? but in this heat? is that REALLY a good idea???). I am also going with the "Like a Prayer" look since, 8 years ago, on my first stint in Barcelona, one magical evening at La Terrrazza, when it was a fully outdoor venue, two dear friends, Jane and James, and I made up a FABULOUS choreographed dance to the tune, yes, it was done with simple, almost sign-language like hand gestures, but it was a club hit and has made appearances in other BCN venues as well as spots in NYC, Phialdelphia and even Tokyo.....the hope is to get in the video shoot and bring the dance to the world!
