Of course missing the flight is my fault. I arrived with a slim one hour margin – I cut it close on non-international flights. This was was my first time leaving from Terminal C from which Vueling operates and which is located as far as humanly possible from the train stop. Also, Clickair happens to use the same numbered desks in Terminal B as Vueling does in Terminal C and since I know the two airlines are merging I got confused. Ok so I'm blond.
Nonetheless the whole episode rankles and as I stood in line to buy a new ticket, I overhead one angry customer after another – right down to the family with crying kids who had missed their international connection – berate Vueling's unfortunate ticketing desk employees. In a country not known for its punctuality, Vueling demonstrates some German-like precision in closing the check-in and selling you a new ticket.
Ah yes, on my reservation confirmation Vueling indeed indicates that check-in desks close 40 mins before departure – in a small font below much more prominent ads for hotels and car rentals. Guess Vueling is more interested in selling you related travel services than making sure you catch your flight.
