  • The Rescue what?

I was travelling to Madrid for an important meeting. Should I take the AVE or a plane? I thought. The AVE was quite more expensive and since my company was paying for the cost of my trip, I decided to take the cheapest option. Vueling offered the best price and I bought the ticket and with it, the whole lie. Its true, terminal C is as far as it could be and I arrived at the check in desk 39 minutes before departure. Yes, 39 according to my watch which unfortunately differed from Mr. Vuelings watch. A girl informed I couldnt board and although I literally got down on my knees begging for a minute of grace, I was referred to the Customer Service desk.
They offered a "Tarifa Rescate" ("Rescue Rate") of 140 euros, which I thought would rescue me from losing the flight but it didnt. It simply offered the generous oportunity to catch the next flight which was 4 hours later than my meeting. Since I found this too expensive and ridiculous, I decided to take a walk around Terminal B and ask for prices in other airlines. All of them were even more expensive. Tired and dissapointed and regreting I had brushed my teeth an extra minute that morning, I went to Vuelings Customer Service desk at Terminal B. After explaining I had missed my flight, I asked for the Tarifa Rescate, mentioning that in my opinion it should be called ¨Tarifa Robo¨ (¨The Robbery Rate¨) and the employee got so upset with my comment that she refused selling the Tarifa Rescate. I answered that I had my right to buy a product which they had offered a while ago. She refused again and told me to buy it in the Vueling Customer Service desk at Terminal C. I could not believe what was happening. Again I walked the endless streets to Terminal C and with my best smile, as if nothing had happend at the other Vueling desk I asked for the Tarifa Rescate for the second time. The employee agreed and typed my name in the computer and said, I am sorry, we have been informed from Terminal B not to sell you the Tarifa Rescate. It was useless to argue but not to demanding a Complaint Sheet. At this point I was making the arrangements to get to Madrid by Ave. Helpless. So angry. I wondered if a secret camera was recording my reactions to such lack of sense I found in every Vueling employee. I went outside the Terminal and cryed. Then I took the train to Sants to catch the Ave, the one I didnt want to take in the first place because a flight was so much better. The odyssey was not over and among the crowded people in the train, a thief stole my purse with all my credit cards, money, passport, and Work permit for Spain. Vueling´s obstacles, one afer the other, made my day and the following month a nightmare of visiting police deparments, the Argentine Embassy, Banks, etc. A minute can make a difference specially if you need to increase sales no matter what. Their slongan is "With Vueling you will fly more", but in my complaint sheet I wrote ¨With Vueling I will fly no more" and I am keeping my word.

  • Vueling- anti crisis strategy number 2

So I have a flight on vueling and carry my usual little roll-along definately hand baggage suitcase to the airport along with the tiniest possible purse and imagine my shock when the ground clerk at the check in counter says that my suitcase is too big. So acknowledging that my running shoes had stretched the width a bit, I pointed to my teeny tiny purse and told the clerk that I would show her how my suitcase fit by taking the shoes in my hands since unlike most women, my hand bag was minute. So I take out the shoes and put the suitcase in, but upside down and hey presto, it fit except for the wheels at the end. Well do you know what?- I was told that my suitcase was too big coz it had to fit in thoroughly, even the wheel! Plus the restriction now is 10 kilos and not 12 as previously. Soon it will go down to may be 5 and then ...ofcource I had to pay €20. Isn't this a nice way to make a fast buck?
