With its basic shapes and bright colors, Barcelona-based artist Sabine Finkenauer's work shows the world from a convincingly childlike perspective. Her simplistic pencil drawings and acrylic paintings depict household items like curtains, chairs and dresses with a refreshing lack of perfection, a flat and unfinished quality seen in the drawings of young children. It won't appeal to everyone – certainly not those from the “but I could do that!” school of art criticism – but others will surely find these carefree creations very charming.

Her solo exhibition 2-dimensional sculpture is currently on display at masART, featuring a range of basic 2D structures that play with our notions of space and shape. Like the rest of Finkenauer's work, the collection uses uncomplicated geometrical forms, straight lines and bold colors. Full of spontaneity and innocence, the sculptures look like neat yet mindless doodles come to life.
