At once a dance-performance and an interactive installation, this ambitious piece is the creation of Kònic Thtr, a Barcelona-based artist platform that aims to develop projects that cross the borders between arts, science and new media. Since 1990, multidisciplinary artist, performer and choreographer Rosa Sanchez and musician, multimedia artist and researcher Alain Baumann have been working to promote the meeting of and collaboration between artists and experts of various disciplines by producing performances, organizing workshops, developing software and even forming part of the teaching staff for the new postgraduate program in Digital Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Combining their extensive knowledge and experience of working with new technologies in dance and theater, Sanchez and Baumann approach scientific development with artistic insight, developing exciting research that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the realms of both technology and performance. Their work has taken them all over the world, collaborating with companies in France, Germany and the UK and working in Mexico, Russia, Italy and more, giving these multitalented professionals a truly worldly view of their field.
Before the Beep plays eight dates at L’Antic Teatre this month, each of which is set to be different from the next as the music and visuals are generated in real time by the physical interaction of both audience and performers.
