With several world-class venues, Barcelona is well known for its vibrant club scene. Clubs also need promoters and one of the busiest in town is Andres Undrez, the man behind the FACT events (no relation to the UK’s FACT magazine). With a reputation for quality house and techno featuring international guests and Barcelona DJs, FACT parties are well worth checking out.
FACT launched with some off Sónar events in 2010 before spending the summer in Ibiza working with the legendary Space nightclub. Earning a good reputation on the island, FACT retuned to Barcelona and it’s been nonstop ever since. Originally from Colombia and raised in London, Undrez lived in Rome before moving to Barcelona. He has embraced and poured a wide range of musical influences into FACT, which he describes as being all about “Good music, good artists and especially good people.”
FACT have hosted parties at many of Barcelona’s key venues including ElRow and Boulevard, but perhaps the essence of FACT can be found at their Wednesday night sessions at the Macarena Microclub. FACT Limited Edition is one international guest playing for five hours to a hundred people; as simple as that, what could be better? X-Press 2, Kenny Larkin and Danny Howells have played this year but the guests are not heavily advertised. Local talent is a vital part of FACT and residents include Sergio Bernardi, Rossko from London, Jordi Angulo, Javi Sampol and Roberto Martin. FACT have also held parties in Madrid, Valencia, Toulouse and London with events in Mexico and Australia coming soon.
So what’s next in Barcelona? There’ll be an open-air pool party in Montjuïc on September 10 while October will see the launch of the FACT Disco Party at Duvet. Undrez is also planning a series of themed parties in special locations.
