Barcelona band Bradien will welcome Berlin-based musician F. S. Blumm to the city this month, with both acts sharing the stage at the Bar del Teatre Lliure on November 13th. Specializing in instrumental music, both Bradien and Blumm mix traditional and digital instruments to create subtle, atmospheric tunes with a cinematic edge.

Frank Schültge Blumm has been working as a musician, composer and producer since 1997, performing as far afield as India and Bangladesh, composing for scores of radio plays and short films, and building up an impressive back catalogue of releases through numerous renowned labels. Playful and inventive, Blumm decorates soothing acoustic melodies with eccentric electro details, sometimes incorporating sounds from the world around him – you might hear his son talking over a track, or car horns in the distance.

Bradien draw inspiration from pop, soundtracks, dubstep and more to create ambient music with a casual vibe and a slightly exotic sound. Since forming in 2005, they have recorded their own full-length album in addition to several remixes and a joint 7-inch with Scottish group Dosimat. Like Blumm, they have also produced music for films and expositions and are currently working on a project with Catalan poet Eduard Escoffet, creating a series of compositions that synthesize their music with his lyrics.

Bradien and Blumm were originally united through Catalan label Poprebop last year when they co-released a digital “split tape” entitled Up Up Treasures, now available to download free from Poprebop's website. This one-off Barcelona date sees the two acts performing together for the first time, promising an evening of unusual but absorbing music in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere.
