Gràcia kicks off on August 15th with a speech given by famous Catalan chef Isma Meadows in Plaça Vila de Gràcia. Over the next seven days, various dance and traditional folk music groups, along with contemporary bands, will march through decorated neighborhood streets crowded with throngs of people. Musicians Mª del Mar Bonet, Roger Mas, Anna Roig i L’ombre de ton chien, Mazoni and Sanjosex, among others, will play at Oratori St. Felip Neri (C/ Sol, 8). Plaça del Diamant will become the “plaza of swing,” filled with those who dare to dance to tunes by Lucky Guri and The Big Swing Solution. The parish of Santa María de Jesús (C/ Gràcia, 3) will play host to afternoons of tango, jazz and Spanish folk by artists Romina Bianco, Eduard Iniesta and Elba Picó Quartet. The festival closes on August 21st with the most highly anticipated activities – a giant scavenger hunt followed by a correfoc (“fire-run”).
