We’ve all said “home, sweet home” at some point but for the people at Halfhouse it means a lot more. Halfhouse is an artist-run space in Poble Nou, but it’s also Alberto Peral and Sinéad Spelman’s apartment. In 2009 they decided to divide their house to share it with Barcelona’s art scene – to bring great projects into a new, closer setting and to enjoy art while feeling like home.
As part of their annual program, they offer a residency giving lucky artists a space to live and work. The current resident, Portuguese artist Joana Escoval, opens a solo exhibition at the end of September; her drawings explore specific cultural objects with compositions made in relation to organic matter. We expect nothing less than a great home-made art experience.
