Henry Saiz hits Barcelona at the end of October when he takes over the Loft at Razzmatazz for the final date in his Balance 019 world tour. It’s fitting that this Spanish DJ and producer should finish his tour in his home country after a year in which he’s firmly established himself on the global dance scene.
Born and raised in Madrid and now based in Alicante, Henry is known as a hard working DJ whose efforts in recent years have really started to pay off. His DJ sets travel through electronica, disco, house and techno while his productions are influenced by his work as a composer of film and television soundtracks. He’s brought this diverse approach to the Balance 019 mix album, made up entirely of Henry’s own productions and remixes. Spread over two CDs and released this summer, Balance 019 is an intricately crafted affair with a strong cinematic feel rather than just a collection of club tracks.
The last four months have seen Henry travel the world to support the album, playing everywhere from Ministry of Sound in London to San Francisco and Mexico City, as well as across Spain. Describing his DJ sets, Henry says, “I look for great music which expresses an honest feeling no matter what style it is. I go into disco, house, techno, whatever… it just needs to be quality music that makes sense within my musical speech.”
Henry is no stranger to Barcelona of course, and Razzmatazz looks set to be a great night. “This gig at the Loft is going to be so special for several reasons,” he explains. “As well as the last gig of my world tour, it’s my birthday party as well, so we definitely have some surprises lined up for the night.”
