Do you remember when you were younger and they’d “twin” your hometown with some obscure village in Northern Europe? It always seemed a bit random. However, the team at LELOOK has managed to take the concept and turn it into something relevant. LELOOK are a group of coolhunters, street style bloggers and prolific fashionistas who have teamed up with city of Leeds and Leeds-based creative agency Hebe Media to invite designers and artists to Barcelona and learn what they can from our stylish city. You can see their thinking; there are a lot of similarities between the two cities. Both are relatively small but share an enthusiastic and somewhat maverick approach to art, fashion and music. And both have a seemingly boundless appetite for crazy directional haircuts.

The conference takes place over two days and will offer participants from both sides of the water the opportunity to make contacts and share ideas. There will be two main events: a conference and a party. Day one is for the conference, hosted at Barcelona’s Istituto Europeo di Design, and will include a debate about fashion, a video art installation and a cocktail networking mixer. Day two is when the fun really begins: the party! Taking place at the ME Barcelona hotel, there’ll be a concert by Leeds dub artists iCALLSHOTGUN and DJs from both cities, including Barcelona-based DJ Mustache and English house legend Dave Beer, head of the Back to Basics club and label. Make-up artists and hairdressers will be on hand to prep for the night’s climax: a runway show with audience participation, with prizes for the best looks and, of course, fashion photographers to snap the stylish bunch.

Come join the fun and show our Northern friends how we do things Barcelona-style.
