The summer-long program draws to a close this month, with specials on Terror (September 2nd), Sex (September 3rd), Creative Publicity (September 9th) and Star Wars (September 10th) lined up before the curtain falls with two "Best of Summer" specials on September 16th and 17th. These final screenings will combine the best films of this year's edition and with such a wide back catalogue to choose from, each is set to present an exciting montage.
Other themed screenings for 2011 have included Humor, Love, Back to the Future and Crappy Boyfriend, meaning Best of Summer 1 and 2 promise a pleasantly quirky assortment of shorts. Entrance normally costs €5, but a discount flyer can be downloaded from MECAL's website, bringing the cost down to just €2.50 and from 8pm to 9pm, your ticket will even get you a free Moritz beer. Screened in the open air at Poble Espanyol from 8pm to midnight, this is a great opportunity for movie buffs to discover up-and-coming or little-known directors, or maybe just to enjoy a summer evening with friends and good films.
