Tell us about Quicksand Remedy.
We are a funk rock band born in late 2006 with influences routed in funky, melodic bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Funkadelic, Incubus and Pearl Jam and fused with darker sounds such as Alice in Chains, Deftones and Metallica. We are Chris Southern (UK) vocals/guitars, me (Ireland) drums and Juan Vivado (Chile) bass.
What's new musically with the band?
We’ve just finished recording our debut album Audio Shaped Tranquiliser recorded at various times since late 2010 in three different studios and produced by local producer and musician Roger Gascon. It will be available in May for free (that's right) from our website.
What’s happening in the local independent live music scene?
It is fresh as there are a lot of bands that don’t stay around long with a lot of members moving in and out of projects. The venues could make it easier for bands to play and promote with a bit of publicity but in spite of that it all seems to work nicely somehow.
Tell us about your upcoming gig.
Ah go on so, it's at Sidecar on May 6, we'll be playing seven or eight songs from our debut album. The gig came about ‘cause the The Layabouts asked us to support them. They're currently touring in Spain to promote their second album.
May 6 at 9pm
SIDECAR. Plaça Reial,7 (Barri Gòtic). €12.
