With an extensive expat community and a lively and inspiring arts scene, it’s little wonder that Barcelona is home to a growing number of English-language poets and writers. Every month, Gràcia-based language and arts center, Collage, welcomes a selection of aspiring and inspiring poets to Tea & Poetry.

Featuring professionals and amateur readers, these cozy and informal readings take place on the third Friday of every month. The mic is available for anyone ready to jump on stage and pour out a verse or two. For those hoping to hone their storytelling skills, the school also offers eight-week creative writing courses suitable for beginners, published writers and anyone in between. Led by Ed Smallfield, a teacher and talented author from California, the two-hour sessions focus on the participants’ work (a maximum of six students makes for added personal attention) and aim to encourage creativity and confidence in a friendly and supportive environment.
