Roger Andreu and José Nortes are two funny guys. Sick of the boringly average high street T shirts the pair began designing their own out of Roger’s flat, before “space became more of an issue than we thought healthy” and they moved into purpose-built premises just off Gràcia’s bustling Carrer de Verdi. Along with a small team of fellow designers and contributors, the pair hit on producing original designs which commented on life, often in a deeply irreverent and rather witty way. “Our concepts are very varied. They depend on things that happen in Gràcia and in the world around us; often things we want to criticise,” says Roger. “You can’t censor a T shirt,” adds José. Little by little they hope to conquer the Barri. After opening last July and, by the time they’d established the name and people became interested, winter hit and T shirts weren’t the number-one priority in Gràcia. But this summer they’re hoping all the hard work and clever messages they’ve been slowly spreading around the neighbourhood are going to have a return. A good T’ is often silently acknowledged. As José grinningly shows me an “I’m not a Guiri” lime green number, I couldn’t agree more…
