Guardia, a street off Nou de la Rambla in Raval, is bursting with interesting shops and organizations, among them MalabArte and Casa-Taller de Marionetas Pepe Otal. Probably the most well-known collective of them all is cultural space/art gallery and shop Miscelänea. Opened in 2005 as a non-profit catch-all and exhibition space for the most eclectic, up-and-coming creatives, they’ve since racked up more than 4,000 members, who have stopped by for a peek, to attend concerts, take workshops and have cañas at their bar. They’ve hosted talents like Sosaku Mityazaki, btoy, Virginia Alvarez (Vir) and Meneo. This year, in honor of five years of artistic promotion, they’re putting on a giant, loud and dancy birthday bash, which will include performances by Four Tet, Narwhal, Les Aus and more, as well as the official presentation of their new website.
