BOTTLE ROCKET
Just the thing for Wes Anderson (Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenembaums, Rushmore) fans. The story of three friends, delinquents-in-progress, it is an introduction to the style that would shape Anderson's later films. As always, we see charismatic losers, who help us remember that despite everything "The world needs dreamers."

Keeping in mind that making a comedy is not an easy task, the Coen brothers come through with comedies that surpass the satisfactory mark They may get drunk on parody, but it's always in the name of good fun. Their latest flick is filled with amazing performances that are worth a watch--but don't expect anything like the Big Lebowski.
SUMMER HOURS
Assayas, Rohmer-style, tells the story of a 'well-to-do' family--yes, a story about the French bourgeoisie. However, this one is touching, as it centers on the idea that 'morals' are anything but absolute. The film allows us to reflect on this as we watch the family divvy up an inheritance.
THAT OBSCURE OBJECT OF DESIRE
The indispensable Bunuel work arrives on DVD with Spanish subtitles, at long last. An old man falls in love with a younger woman, who in turn falls in, then out of love with him. The real magic of the film-where it truly triumphs-is in incorporating the performances of two actresses in the starring female role.
