Known for bringing ‘reality’ onto the stage – he’s been at it with the Wooster Group in NYC since the 80s – Chris Kondek’s piece is not about the bizarre things little kids do to dead pets, but instead about the seemingly bipolar stock market. Part of the Radicals Lliure series, the title refers to the picking up of a stock’s value after a sharp drop. With the night’s earnings in hand, the actors lead the audience on a real time rollercoaster ride through the New York Stock Exchange. Accompanied by NYSE video clips, they test the phenomenon in English, Spanish and Catalan. Always offering up multi-lingual works, Teatre Lliure even hosts special English-subtitled performances Thursday and Saturday evenings.
