University of Barcelona's center specializing in Spanish language and cultural education for foreigners.

Choosing a language school is never an easy task, especially when having to do so in a foreign country. What really makes a school worth it are the qualifications and experience of its teachers, as well as the school’s approach. Estudios Hispánicos at the Universitat de Barcelona has put a lot of time and research into providing a comprehensive catalogue of language and cultural classes, all taught by qualified university-level professors.

Part of the University of Barcelona – Spain’s only university included in the world’s 200 best universities on the World University Rankings 2009 – Estudios Hispánicos offers foreign students an ample offering of language and cultural courses. Even if your level of Spanish is low, they believe in language learning through content, so the Spanish film, economy and even literature classes they give are provided in a level for beginners and another for intermediate to advanced levels. There are also classes in Catalan, Spanish for business and Spanish used in daily life. Classes are offered at different lengths, with fall, winter, spring and summer terms, as well as yearlong courses. The EH team has spent a lot of time collecting materials to ensure the individual lessons covered are varied and challenging for both those studying short-term and long-term. Another advantage of studying with EH is that each course is part of the ECTS system, where credits for work done can be transferred between universities throughout the European Union—so you don’t have to start at square one, if say you’d like to study at another Spanish university. In addition to the classes, EH plans cultural outings, allows students access to a computer lab and special resource room and is available to answer any questions or doubts at their office onsite at the University of Barcelona.
