    Ah, the sweet life (la dolce vita). It was the title of Federico Fellini’s masterpiece that not only gave a peek into the director’s life and showed a shift in his style, but had its finger on the pulse of the liberating new era of the 60s. While it got a negative response from some moviegoers – one even spat on the director when exiting a Milan theater showing – and was denounced by the Vatican, censored and even banned in Spain until 1975, it is one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved films of all time.

      Known for his baroque, rich visual style, Fellini has influenced many contemporary directors, such as Pedro Almodóvar and Woody Allen. The man and his films are the subjects of a full-scale exhibition opening in February at CaixaForum. Much like the grand Chaplin exhibition from 2007 and 2008, visitors will find out what made the man behind the lens tick through 400 pieces including numerous photographs, drawings and unedited films.
