Prat de Llobregat's 'mascot' puts its best foot forward in this art exhibition/movement. Carey Zamarriego

Just like the black-footed (pata negra) pig, apparently the blue-footed (pota blava) chicken, native to Prat de Llobregat, is coveted for its exquisite meat and also serves as a sort of mascot for the city. Helping to get this little-known fact to the masses, even those stepping off flights from places like Reykjavík, are the multi-disciplinary artists working on project Gallum Gallum.

Centre d'Art Torre Muntadas

80 Jaume Casanovas, Barcelona, Catalonia

Tue-Sat 4pm-8pm, Sun 11am-2pm

Like the Cow Parade project, which has been placing cow sculptures created by various artists around Chicago, Tokyo, London and other cities since 1999, Gallum Gallum’s artists present creative interpretations of the symbolic chicken in public spaces. The original sculptor Mariano Ríos, along with artists Eloi Linuesa and José Dana, as well as a diverse group of bloggers, animators, music producers and more, including Splik i Mer, Escola d’Arts del Prat and Montse Sans and Col·lectiu de Dones Actives, have been working together to get the wordout on the treasured symbol of the Llobregat Delta. This final exhibition closes out the blue-footed chicken tour that has taken the avian art from the streets of Prat de Llobregat to Barcelona airport’s T1, in addition to the sculptures, visitors can take in a behind-the-scenes documentary about the project by Sergi Sandúa and photos from Vamaca and Laura Quinto.
