Ramón Guimaraes, an artist with an apparent fascination for S&M-style masks equipped with mouth zippers, exhibits solo for the first time in Barcelona. Since he got his start in the 1980s, Guimaraes has gained fame for focusing on the concept of identity. Using a combination of video, photography, drawing and even solo objects, he not only explores homosexual stereotypes, but even those of holy entities. A reflection on the patriarchal, power-hungry society we live in, his current exhibition is colorful, vibrant and irreverent. The clever titles also engage the viewer and are cause for the occasional outburst of laughter.
