One of the city’s cultural staples, Barcelona’s 12th Annual Jewish Film Festival (Festival de Cinema Jueu de Barcelona) will kick-off this year at the end of June. As always, the festival’s films and activities revolve around a common theme: this year’s is “links.”

Cinema Malda

5 Del Pi, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08002

Depends on film

The aim of the Jewish Film Festival is to better represent this community in the city, as well as provide additional support to Jewish-centered films made in Catalunya. With “links” as the central topic, the event focuses on the historical connections that bind the Jewish population together. Documentaries and dramas emphasizing cultural diversity will be shown at Cinema Maldà, including Cinco Días sin Nora and Black over White. In addition to film screenings, other activities include a book presentation on Aharon Appelfeld’s portrait of a Holocaust survivor in En Bartfuss, l’Immortal.
