Formerly of Plaza del Tripi, La Verònica is now a bright light illuminating Rambla de Raval. What many may not know, is that its interiors mixing striking reds with bright, stark whites reveal the restaurant’s connection with a Spanish tradition. What’s more Spanish than a bullfight?     flexibility. The bullfighting homage doesn’t stop there, as the restaurant’s lettering comes from the same typeset used in bullfighting posters. Accomplished architect Julia Shulz-Dornburg, who incorporated the signature Spanish coloring as well as added a luminous bench and suspended light bulbs, created the space. But at La Verònica, it is not only the interiors that are steeped in tradition and surpass the grade; the unique pies have a history that’s been attracting devotees.

    Combinations like fresh artichokes and cheese, apple and Gorgonzola, smoked swordfish

    and a Reus recipe of caramelized onion and red pepper atop the crispy thin-crust pizzas. There is also a wide variety of salads, and the incomparable Flantástico, a cheesebased flan recipe from the grandmother of Pau, owner Francesc’s dear friend.
