Get to know the work of independent director Todd Solondz through this vital film on war and redemption... Vicky Ramírez

Forgive and forget. But I can’t forget Todd Solondz; I have always found his films so funny, yet at the same time felt embarrassed about laughing at the serious drama involving outcast adolescents.

Tue-Sun 7pm-11pm.

For those new to the work of this independent director, I recommend his entire filmography: Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness, Storytelling, Palindromes (with its Buñuel-esque actress switch, his most inaccessible work), and, after your laughter subsides, finish off with his latest work, Life During Wartime – even if it feels like “Half Happiness” as the film picks up where Happiness ends– a vital work for a director who “in times of war” seeks above all his own redemption, and perhaps ours too.

    Recommendation from VOID, Spain’s first video club specialized in auteur cinema. Open: Tue–Sun 7pm–11pm. C/ Ferlandina, 53 (Raval) 651 37 43 53.
