With their latest line of intense, even aggressive cuts, New H-air aim to capture this sense of rebellion that writhes in the air today and fuse it with a futuristic, industrialist glamour. Michael Mueller

We observe a society divided into two classes: on the one hand, a privileged group of wealthy individuals enjoying life in luxurious confines, while on the other, an increasingly miserable underclass toiling away to maintain the living standards of the first. 2011? No, it’s 1927 and German director Fritz Lang has just presented us with a dystopic vision of the future in his groundbreaking science fiction magnus opus Metropolis, a film eerily relevant today. It would seem a curious coincidence that hair salon New H-air’s latest style shoot took inspiration from the film’s depiction that “something isn’t right” when just a short time later, simmering social tensions exploded in Spain’s indignados movement of May 15. Life imitates art.

With their latest line of intense, even aggressive cuts, New H-air aim to capture this sense of rebellion that writhes in the air today and fuse it with a futuristic, industrialist glamour. Their cuts’ shaved interiors lurk, as it were, underneath smooth, elegant outer surfaces, giving its wearers a chameleon-like ability to blend in or rather elevate with looks of provocative rebellion, hair product permitting.

New H-air specialize in the vibrant London color line Sassoon and recommend that the time is now to let loose a completely new look, platinum blonde perhaps. Accessorize with bold makeup, handcrafted metal and leather jewelry, an elegant black and white tattoo and Kraftwerk’s Metropolis-inspired music, likely to cameo in the new video that New H-air have in the works.

Session: Burbujas de Acero. Photography: Vanessa Ortiz. Stylist: Lolo. Styling Assistant: Carlota. Makeup: Marta Ibar. Fashion: Anna Suñé. Accessories: Sheha!! Models: Luna, Llum, David, Sergio, Pablo.
