Tucked away in the heart of the Gothic quarter, Pla is one of Barcelona's best and best-loved restaurants. Specializing in creative Mediterranean cuisine with international touches, the restaurant’s founder Jaume Pla regularly travels around the world to sample each country’s star dishes and gather new ideas to add to his unique menu. As a starter, you might like to try the Iberian pork “secret” carpaccio with porcini mushroom sauce, pistachios and truffle vinaigrette, perhaps followed by a sumptuous beef filet with grey salt or herb oil, potato stack, vegetables and confit tomatoes. Pla’s selection of fresh fish is also highly recommended, with flamed tuna fillet, braised monkfish and grilled smoked salmon are among some of the best dishes on offer.
